02:00 PM Letheby & Christopher Supreme Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1)

Justified set off at a terrific gallop ahead of Chilling Place and Perfect Storm, with Marcel and Publican held up at the rear. There was little change in the order by the time they started down the hill for the final time, Justified still trying to get away from Chilling Place. Marcel was being asked a few questions and Arcalis Wild Passion and Dusky Warbler were noted making ground. As Justified ran out of steam on the turn for home, Arcalis moved smoothly into the lead and took the last two lengths clear of Wild Passion, with Dusky Warbler in third. Arcalis sprinted clear up the hill, coming home six lengths clear of Wild Passion, Dusky Warbler held onto third.

02:35 PM Irish Independent Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase (Grade 1)

As is customary, Ashley Brook set off at a breakneck pace, quickly opening up a healthy lead over Sir OJ and Mondul. The field started to close up on the leader down the far side, with War Of Attrition and Watson Lake together a couple of lengths away, Contraband was right behind these. As the two fancied Irish runners came to the end of their tethers, Contraband moved through to join Ashley Brook. The two leaders jumped the last together but Ashley Brook pecked on landing to hand the race to Contraband who went on to score by a length, River City stayed on best of the remainder to take third.

03:15 PM Smurfit Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy (Grade 1)

As in last years event Hardy Eustace attempted to ground his opponents into the ground and led early from market rival Back In Front, with Essex and Brave Inca behind these. The leader continued to put the pace to the race as they headed down the far side, Back In Front and Essex were joined at the hip came next with Harchibald cruising behind. As they started up the uphill finish Harchibald was on the heals of the leader, with Brave Inca and Back In Front right there. Hardy Eustace took the last in the lead but Harchibald was still pulling double. As they entered the last 100 yards Harchibald was given his head but found nothing as Hardy Eustace gamely stayed on to win by a length, Brave Inca was back in third.

Richard Johnson popped Jakari into the early lead from Kelami, Chives and Blazing Batman. Colourful Life, Tikram and Iris Bleu were all settled in midfield. Following a few errors Jakari dropped away, leaving Keen Leader to take them along from Chives, Whereareyounow and Kock De La Vesvre. Colourful Life came down at the seventh from home, as Keen Leader moved sweetly into the lead, Kelami and Irish Hussar were both going well behind as Iris Bleu found nothing when asked. Keen Leader still led as they jumped the last but, Kelami landed running and pulled away up the hill, Keen Leader held off Irish Hussar for second.

As the headed down the far side Woody Valentine moved through to challenge Rolling Home, At Your Request was starting to make ground along with Dabiroun.
