Champion Bumper - Trends

Age

  • A race restricted to 4, 5 and 6 year olds, but the stats fall heavily on the side of the five year olds, rule out the rest!

Recent Form and Experience

  • Last time winners have the edge and just tip the balance, and look for horses who haven't run in since before the new year, this is a race where horses are prepared on the gallops, though make sure your selection has run well in a big field as the "bumping" is a true test of a horses strength of character.

Market Position

  • Backing the favourite would see you losing as they normally represent terrible value, look further down the field for a bit of value and bet each way.

Trainers

  • Stick with the Irish trained horses, this race is heavy odds on to fall to an Irish raider.

Other Positives

  • Mares have a decent record and usually offer good value.

PERFECTION: A five year old Irish trained mare having her 1st run of the calendar year, who won last time out and has experience and run well in a big field in the past.
