Cross Country Chase
- Trends
Age
- A race where the veterans of NH shine, the course combined with the
unusual obstacles need a horse and jockey who know the ropes avoid any
runner under 10 years old.
Recent Form and Experience
- A race where experience in a qualifier will give you all the clues,
the selection should have been in the 1st three over the course in the
build up races and more importantly no more than 5 lengths away in
defeat. An obvious factor is a solid jumper and rule out any horse with
less than 90% record in terms of clear rounds.
Market Position
- Backing the favourite each way should ensure a bit of fun but a
small each way on a horse who is long in the betting but has been
lightly raced in the season and had mid field finishes in the build up
could land some decent winnings.
Trainers
- Ferdy Murphy has an outstanding record in this type of event.
Other Positives
- A jockey with course winning form is a distinct advantage.
PERFECTION: Go for a Ferdy Murphy
horse aged at least 10 years old who is ridden by a jockey with course
experience and keep to each way betting only.
