Supreme Novices Hurdle | The Arkle | William Hill Trophy | Champion Hurdle | Cross Country Chase

Day One

The feature race is the Champion Hurdle over the extended 2m course and sees the Worlds best hurdlers fight out a thrilling finish up the famous Cheltenham hill.

The rest of day one features 5 other top quality races including the Supreme Novices Hurdle to kick off the festival in style.

The Arkle is one of the highlights of the year for the young 2m chasers and is full of heart in mouth moments as they approach every fence of the 2m course.

The William Hill Trophy represents your best chance at finding a big priced winner on Day One and regularly pays the festival expenses.

The Cross Country Chase is almost a fun race on the Cheltenham card and offers spectators at the course an "experience" to remember.

The Irish Challenge

The Irish first race winner to open the festival especially the subject of a monster gamble always ensures the Festival gets off to a tremendous start for punters and a miserable one for the bookmakers!

But be warned the bookies normally grimace with a hidden smile, as the war is never over after the first battle victory.

There's no getting away from the fact that some of the biggest cheers come at the start and finish of the 1st race, especially if an Irish trained horse takes the honours, so our advice is bet cautiously, side with the Gaelic challenge and let the fun begin!
