Grand Annual
- Trends
Age
- A race that falls down on the side of youth over the minimum trip,
rule out any horse aged double figures or older, they just don't have
the raw speed required to take this.
Recent Form and Experience
- You need a horse in form, any horse not in the first four in its
last outing have a statistical Everest to climb, and last time out
winners have the best record by far, so side with a last time winner.
You should also side with a horse that had its last run between 10 and
40 days before this event.
Market Position
- Favourites have a good record, but some each way value is the way to
go from a betting point of view and the long priced horses make the
frame most years and even the occasional few winners.
Trainers
- A race that the Irish trainers seem to love to target, so keep them
on your side.
Other Positives
- The horses at the bottom of the handicap out perform the rest here
and with no room for jumping errors the light weight are more likely to
get the perfect clear round required so go with horses weighted 10st-
10st2lbs.
PERFECTION: An Irish trained horse
under ten years old, with winning form within the last 2-5weeks, that is
carrying less than 10st3lbs and back it each way at odds of 12/1 or
longer.
