R&S Chase - Trends

Age

  • Seven and eight year olds have a fantastic record in this event and represents a strong stat to follow, so cross out all other horses.

Recent Form and Experience

  • One of the strongest trends at the whole festival is to back a horse 1st or 2nd on its last run to make the frame in the R&S Chase, look for chase form in the run up to this race.

Market Position

  • A poor race for favourites and you should side with horses outside the first three in the betting and its a race where a long price winner or placed should be expected.

Trainers

  • No significant trend over the past 20 years leave this race wide open on this front.

Other Positives

  • Look out for dour stayers this is a race where the almost guaranteed strong early pace turns the final 1/2 mile into a real staying test.

PERFECTION: Look down the betting for a 7 or 8 year old with solid chase form, a 1 or 2 on its last outing and who is proven over further, avoid the favourite and lump on each way, a race where 2 or 3 qualifiers warrant a bet for a possible nice payday.
