Supreme Novices Hurdle
- Trends
Age
- One of the strongest stats in this race is to bet on 5 or 6 year
olds, with around a 90% success rate over the last 30 renewals, not a
stat to ignore and we recommend ignoring any talked about up and coming
4 year old and any horse 7 or over.
Recent Form and Experience
- Another huge stat that stands out with around 90% success over the
last 20 years is to back a horse that comes into the race on the back of
a win last time out, though the need for hurdles experience is much less
of a factor, so don't rule out horses with 3 or less hurdle runs in the
form book.
Market Position
- A race for the fancied horses with a horse in the 1st two in the
betting dominating in recent years but look out for late market moves as
the winner is usually the result of a late plunge and this is a race to
get involved with to get you off to a festival flyer.
Trainers
- Northern trainers have the worst record and Irish trained horses
appear to have a distinct edge over the years.
Other Positives
- Mares have out performed their male counterparts and is an
interesting trend to follow.
PERFECTION: Go for an Irish trained mare, who is 5 or 6 years
old, has a win in the form for her last run, is in the first two in the
betting and has run 3 times or less in the current season.
